About Somatic Experiencing™
Somatic Experiencing™, developed by Dr. Peter Levine, is a body-based method of working with trauma and accumulated stress. It helps restore our body’s own natural ability to heal itself and gives us more capacity to enjoy life fully, in the present.
SE™ not only reduces symptoms, it helps repair physiological injuries associated with trauma and accumulated stress.
My clients have seen significant improvement in symptoms from:
- Accidents
- Injuries
- Falls
- Surgeries/medical events/anesthesia/near death experience
- Violence by another person
- Developmental trauma/unsupportive or unpredictable early environments
- Birth trauma
- Accumulated stress
The beauty of Somatic Experiencing™ is its flexibility and application to so many different fields of helping. Every practitioner brings their own training, experience and background and applies an understanding of the nervous system. What we have in common is attention to restoring the nervous system’s natural rhythm while guarding it from becoming overwhelmed.
